Background
Lisa Marie Presley was born on 1 February 1968, the only child of Elvis Presley and Priscilla Presley. She died on 12 January 2023, aged 54.
Inheriting the Estate
She became sole heir to her father’s estate at 25. Priscilla Presley had by then rebuilt it through Elvis Presley Enterprises, opening Graceland to the public and consolidating the image rights – work that turned a heavily indebted estate into a substantial business (Forbes).
In 2005 the great majority of Elvis Presley Enterprises was sold, leaving Lisa Marie with a 15 per cent holding and a large cash sum. The proceeds went partly into a holding company connected to American Idol, which later went bankrupt.
The Decline
What happened over the following decade is a matter of court filings rather than speculation. By 2015-16 the trust held roughly 14,000 dollars in cash against substantial unpaid tax and other debt, with close to 100 million dollars having been spent or lost across the preceding decade (Forbes).
After her death the position deteriorated further before it improved. An attempted foreclosure sale of Graceland in 2024 was blocked by a judge after her daughter Riley Keough alleged fraud and a forged signature (NPR); Keough was confirmed as sole trustee following a settlement with Priscilla Presley (The Hollywood Reporter).
How the Estimate Is Calculated
Documented. The 2015 trust position – about 14,000 dollars in cash against significant debt – and the roughly 100 million spent across the preceding decade, both from litigation filings (Forbes). The blocked 2024 Graceland foreclosure is also on the record (NPR).
Retained. The 15 per cent holding in Elvis Presley Enterprises, and Graceland itself, which the family owns and which was never part of the 2005 sale.
Not verifiable. The net position of her estate at death, which is still being resolved; and the current value of the retained holding.
Why there is no single figure. The 14,000 dollars was cash held in the trust in 2015-16, not her total assets and not a net-worth figure. Set against substantial reported debt, it indicates a liquid position that was at best very small and may have been negative. Against that sit two real assets she never lost: Graceland, and the retained 15 per cent of Elvis Presley Enterprises.
Those assets have no published valuation and her estate is still being resolved, so this site will not put a number on the total. Inheriting a famous name is not the same as inheriting money – but saying precisely how much less would mean inventing the arithmetic.
Estimated Net Worth
Liquid position at death: very small and possibly negative. Not established, and stated as such – Graceland and her 15 per cent of Elvis Presley Enterprises are held separately and have no published valuation.
