Surtain attended American Heritage School in Plantation, where he quickly established himself as a standout football player. He played college football at the University of Alabama, where he was a key player in the Crimson Tide’s defense. Surtain entered the 2021 NFL Draft and was selected by the Denver Broncos with the 9th overall pick in the first round.
