Regazzoni began his Formula One career with Ferrari in 1970, where he quickly made a name for himself as a talented driver. He won his first race in the Italian Grand Prix in 1970 and went on to win five more races with the team. In 1974, Regazzoni moved to the newly formed team of Ensign before joining Williams in 1979.
